AORA PARTICIPATED IN THE 4TH MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON ROAD SAFETY

February 18-20, the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety was held in the Moroccan city of Marrakech under the patronage of the country's King Mohammed VI, in which AORA President Artyom Petrosyan participated as a member of the Armenian delegation. This representative event, which is held once every five years, this time brought together about 2,500 participants from 193 countries. The Government of Armenia was represented by Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Ms. Christine Ghalechyan.
In addition to the three days dedicated to the official agenda, numerous parallel discussions and meetings were organized with the participation of leading organizations and companies working on the improvement of road safety and mobility, which were aimed at identifying the main problems and challenges in these areas, as well as once again reminding government agencies around the world that the fight against road fatalities cannot be subject to compromises and that only a coordinated approach can contribute to a significant reduction in these alarming indicators.
The President of the Association of Official Representatives of Automobile Manufacturers, who is also the Director of Road Safety and Mobility at the Armenian Automobile Federation, held separate meetings with the heads of the iRAP (International Road Assessment Program) program and, in particular, the Star Rating for Schools project, presenting the results and prospects of the pilot program for schools in Gyumri and Vanadzor cities implemented in 2023-2024. An agreement was reached on the possible implementation of the project at the national level, which in turn implies work on the state, private and public fronts.
Prospects for cooperation were discussed with conference participants from other countries, in particular from Ethiopia, Namibia, Andorra and Sweden.
